I want to share with you a recipe that is the true star of our mornings at home: homemade waffles. Every bite brings a sense of comfort and a unique flavor that makes this the best waffle recipe you’ll ever try! And the best part is that making these waffles is super easy and quick, perfect for a special breakfast or any moment you want to make sweeter.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour (I used gluten-free)
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or lemon zest (preferably Sicilian)
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 113 g of butter (slightly melted) or vegetable oil
- 1 3/4 cups of milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
Instructions:
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix all the liquid ingredients: milk (if using yogurt, mix it now), vegetable oil or butter, and vanilla extract or lemon zest, until well incorporated.
- Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until you have a smooth batter. But don’t overmix; it’s okay if the batter is a bit lumpy.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or vegetable oil.
- Pour an appropriate amount of batter into the center of the preheated waffle iron according to the machine’s instructions.
- Close the lid and cook the waffle until it is golden and crispy on the outside, usually 3 to 5 minutes, depending on your waffle iron.
- Carefully remove the waffle from the iron using a fork or tongs. Repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve the waffles hot with your favorite toppings, such as honey, butter, maple syrup, fresh fruits, whipped cream, or nuts.
| Tip: You can substitute 1 ¾ cups of milk with 1 cup of milk and ¾ cup of Greek yogurt and mix well. (My measuring cup is 250ml.) |
Until the next recipe!
From my kitchen to yours,
Ana Raquel.
